HCKids is dedicated to finding loving, devoted and supportive forever families for the children available for adoption in Hamilton County foster care. Our goal is to inform the general public about the adoption and foster care process, while also recruiting potential families for the children we have just waiting to be adopted.
Hamilton County currently has about 400 children available for adoption. The county’s Children’s Services division often must take custody of children who are the victims of abuse or neglect and cannot be safely reunited with their families.
HCKids is the adoption and foster care section of Hamilton County Children’s Services, a department of Hamilton County Job and Family Services (HCJFS).
Hamilton County Job and Family Services administers state, federal and local programs designed to help those in need and help families work toward self sufficiency.
The agency has served Hamilton County since 1947. Today, the approximately 780 employees that work for the agency serve hundreds of thousands of Hamilton County residents.
The department is one of the few quadruple-combined public human service agencies in Ohio – providing public assistance, children’s services, child support and workforce development programs to the community.
Among the department’s many duties are: local child protection, adult protection, child care, child support enforcement, workforce development, cash assistance, food assistance and medical assistance.
Since 2007, HCJFS has been led by Agency Director Moira Weir. HCJFS is the largest department within Hamilton County government and reports to the Board of Hamilton County Commissioners.
Hamilton County Job and Family Services is accredited by the Council on Accreditation, an international, independent, not-for-profit child and family service accrediting organization.
WENDY’S WONDERFUL KIDS
HCJFS is pleased to partner with Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, a signature program of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption that brings children waiting to be adopted from foster care one step closer to safe, loving and permanent homes.
Through Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, the Foundation provides grants to adoption agencies to hire and train adoption recruiters who implement the Foundation’s evidence-based Child-Focused Recruitment Model. This model is up to three times more effective at serving children who have been in foster care the longest, including older youth, sibling groups and children with special needs.
